HÜDA PAR calls for social justice and fair wages in May 1 Labour Day message

HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) has issued a strong message on Labour and Solidarity Day, voicing deep concern over the escalating labour injustices in Türkiye.
The party urgently called for fair wages, the establishment of social justice, and an end to what it describes as exploitative economic policies amidst soaring inflation.
In a written statement from the party headquarters on Wednesday, HÜDA PAR emphasized that labour is the most basic element of production and underscored the Islamic principle that “the worker’s wage must be paid before the sweat dries.” The message mourned the grim economic landscape in which this year's Labour Day is being commemorated.
“Unfortunately, we welcome 1 May with this dark picture,” the statement read. “Despite all efforts, the fire of inflation cannot be extinguished. Purchasing power declines day by day, and the sweat of the labourer is no longer enough to make ends meet.”
The statement sharply criticized the economic system that, according to the party, enables capital owners to thrive while workers are condemned to poverty. HÜDA PAR argued that current policies are feeding a cycle of labour-wage injustice and enriching monopolies.
“In the last three years, while inflation surged, the profit rates of capital continued to rise, yet the share of labour in national income shrank. At least half of the labour force lives below the hunger or poverty line,” the statement said.
HÜDA PAR accused the government and private sector of turning high unemployment into a tool for exploitation by maintaining a "cheap labour market," and warned that dismissing workers’ demands for fair wages as inflationary only serves to “sacrifice social justice to the insatiable spiral of capital.”
The party also condemned a system that elevates capital above the needs of the people, saying it transforms wealth into “an instrument of oppression” controlled by an elite class. It argued that the economic order must prioritize human dignity and ensure fair compensation for all labourers.
“Labour must be valued over capital’s desires. Human living standards must replace minimum wage calculations. We must break the cycle of imposed labour-wage injustice.”
Concluding its message, HÜDA PAR extended a wish that this year’s May Day would serve as a turning point toward a more just economic order: “On this occasion, we wish that May 1 will lead to happy and peaceful days where social justice is established, labour is truly compensated, and workers are treated with dignity and fairness.”
The statement reflects HÜDA PAR’s broader stance in favour of economic justice rooted in moral and Islamic principles, and a rejection of systems that treat human labour as disposable. (ILKHA)
