Israeli-backed gangs target Gaza with narcotics
The Al-Haris Internal Security platform in the Gaza Strip said gangs linked to the Israeli occupation are attempting to spread narcotics across Gaza as part of a broader campaign aimed at undermining Palestinian society and weakening its internal front.
In a statement, the platform said the groups were exploiting the humanitarian conditions created by the ongoing war to distribute drugs and other suspicious substances, particularly among young people, in an effort to damage the social fabric and create internal instability.
According to Al-Haris, the activities extend beyond ordinary criminal acts and form part of a systematic plan to destabilize public order and weaken the resilience of Palestinian society.
The platform urged residents to remain vigilant, report any suspected drug trafficking or distribution, and cooperate with security authorities to prevent narcotics from spreading within the community. It also called for greater public awareness to protect young people from what it described as attempts to exploit the difficult conditions in the Gaza Strip.
The warning came after Gaza security authorities announced that they had foiled a major drug smuggling operation allegedly carried out through gangs linked to the Israeli occupation.
Officials said the seized narcotics were intended for distribution inside Gaza and described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to target public security and social stability.
Palestinian security authorities have repeatedly warned that occupation-linked groups are seeking to exploit the war and the humanitarian crisis through criminal activities designed to weaken Gaza's internal cohesion. They said efforts to monitor and thwart such operations will continue.(ILKHA)
