Israeli airstrikes kill 13 civilians in Gaza City amid ongoing genocide

At least 13 Palestinian civilians were killed and many others injured on Friday as the Israeli occupation continued its relentless bombardment of Gaza City, targeting homes, schools, and shelters housing displaced families.
Local sources reported that five members of a single family—a man, his wife, and their three children—were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent shelter on Al-Jalaa Street, where displaced Palestinians had sought refuge.
In northern Al-Shati (Beach) refugee camp, Israeli airstrikes on the Al-Aswad family home killed three civilians, including a child, and wounded several others. Additionally, five civilians were killed in Israeli shelling of the Amr Ibn Al-As School in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, which shelters families forced from their homes.
Israeli artillery also struck Abu Iskandar in northern Gaza City and the Zeitoun and Sabra neighborhoods in the south, causing further casualties.
Since August 11, the Israeli occupation army has carried out a large-scale offensive in the Zeitoun neighborhood of southeastern Gaza City. This operation has involved the demolition of homes using explosive-laden robots, artillery shelling, random gunfire, and forced displacement, as part of Israel’s broader plan to reoccupy the remaining parts of the Gaza Strip. On August 8, the Israeli government approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to gradually occupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a relentless campaign of genocide in Gaza, employing systematic killings, starvation, destruction, and mass displacement while ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease its actions.
The ongoing campaign has resulted in the deaths of 62,192 civilians and injuries to 157,114, the majority of whom are women and children. More than 9,000 Palestinians remain missing, hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced, and famine has claimed 271 lives, including 112 children.
Human rights organizations and local authorities have repeatedly condemned the Israeli assaults as crimes against humanity, calling for immediate international intervention to protect Gaza’s civilians. (ILKHA)
