Iranian, Egyptian foreign ministers call for immediate end to Gaza genocide

In a joint effort to confront the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, the foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt held a telephone conversation on Wednesday, calling for an immediate halt to Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the rapidly deteriorating situation in Gaza, condemning what they described as the illegal and criminal plan of the Zionist regime to militarily occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace its civilian population.
Both top diplomats expressed grave concern over the ongoing mass killings, describing the Israeli campaign as a deliberate attempt to erase Palestinian existence from their own land. They stressed the urgency of ending the bloodshed without delay and ensuring the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave, where millions are facing starvation, displacement, and bombardment.
Abdelatty briefed his Iranian counterpart on the efforts being led by Egypt and Qatar to secure a ceasefire, saying that mediation remains critical despite Israel’s continued rejection of humanitarian initiatives.
For his part, Araghchi highlighted Iran’s initiative in convening an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Jeddah next week. The meeting, requested by Iran alongside other member states, will focus on the urgent situation in Gaza and the broader Palestinian struggle.
Araghchi described the summit as a vital opportunity for the Islamic world to coordinate positions and take concrete steps to support the Palestinian people. He underscored the need to confront Israel’s expansionist ambitions, particularly the so-called “Greater Israel” project, which aims to occupy Arab and Islamic lands under the cover of war.
The conversation between the two foreign ministers underscores a growing alignment among regional states demanding an end to Israel’s atrocities. With Gaza enduring relentless bombardment and mass displacement, the call from Tehran and Cairo highlights a shared recognition that silence in the face of genocide is no longer an option.
As Palestinians in Gaza face one of the darkest chapters in modern history, regional actors are intensifying efforts to stop the carnage and rally the international community against what they view as Israel’s campaign of annihilation. (ILKHA)
