Hamas fighters strike Israeli troops in Khan Younis

The Israeli occupation army was forced on Thursday to admit what it described as a “failure” after Palestinian resistance fighters successfully stormed a military encampment in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, penetrating even into a building where Israeli soldiers were stationed.
According to an updated military probe cited by The Times of Israel, the fighters emerged from a tunnel just 40–50 meters from the encampment, which housed forces from the Kfir Infantry Brigade and the 74th Armored Battalion. Notably, the occupation forces had prior knowledge of the tunnel and had even demolished part of it, yet resistance fighters managed to use it to launch the daring raid.
The report confirmed that the resistance squad divided into three groups: one set up suppressive fire from a dirt mound, another entered an unoccupied building inside the encampment, and the third stormed a building where Israeli troops were present. Two resistance fighters managed to breach the building, engaging Israeli forces in close-quarters combat that lasted for around five minutes.
The probe admits that one Hamas fighter was martyred during the confrontation, while another was killed outside after the clashes. At least three Israeli soldiers were wounded, one seriously, though the occupation army is widely known for downplaying its losses in such encounters.
Earlier, Al-Qassam Brigades had announced that its fighters carried out a surprise raid on the newly established Israeli military site in Khan Younis. According to the statement, the resistance targeted Merkava IV tanks, stormed buildings housing occupation troops, and sniped the driver of a Merkava tank, inflicting fatal injuries.
The bold infiltration once again highlights the ability of the Palestinian resistance to outmaneuver the heavily armed Israeli forces despite the brutal and months-long onslaught on Gaza. For many in Gaza and across the region, the attack represents both a symbolic and strategic victory, proving that the resistance remains capable of inflicting painful blows on the occupier deep inside its fortified positions.
