HÜDA PAR denounces police crackdown on pro-Palestine sit-in in Ankara

HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) has issued a sharp rebuke of the police's aggressive response to a peaceful pro-Palestine sit-in held outside the Israeli embassy in Ankara.
The demonstration, organized to show solidarity with Palestinians amid ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza, was met with forceful police intervention, including the detention of female protesters who were reportedly dragged on the ground.
In a statement released on Sunday, HÜDA PAR’s Human Rights and Legal Affairs Presidency condemned the police actions as a severe breach of human dignity and democratic principles. "The regrettable intervention by the police in the peaceful sit-in in front of the Zionist terrorist regime embassy in Ankara is unacceptable," the statement read. It described the detention of women protesters, who were peacefully voicing opposition to the massacres in Palestine, as a violation of fundamental rights, including freedom of expression and assembly.
HÜDA PAR emphasized that law enforcement must adhere to constitutional and international human rights standards, particularly in handling peaceful protests. "The right to protest is a cornerstone of democracy and cannot be repressed through intimidation or violence," the party stated, adding, "We strongly condemn this intervention against women. The voice of citizens who want to draw attention to the persecution of the Palestinian people cannot be suppressed."
The sit-in, part of a broader wave of grassroots protests across Turkey, aimed to highlight the Israeli regime’s ongoing military assaults in Gaza, which have resulted in thousands of civilian deaths and injuries. The crackdown has drawn widespread criticism from rights groups and civil society organizations, who are calling for accountability.
HÜDA PAR vowed to continue advocating for justice and human rights, stating, "We will continue to be the voice of justice and human rights" in response to the Palestinian crisis and the suppression of peaceful activism. The incident has further fueled public outrage in Turkey over Israel’s actions and the handling of pro-Palestine demonstrations. (ILKHA)
