Muslim scholars holds global community accountable for Gaza genocide

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza, holding not only the Israeli occupation regime but also the Islamic world and the broader international community morally and politically accountable for their silence and failure to intervene.
The Union described Israel’s latest military campaign, code-named “Gideon’s Chariots,” as a horrific continuation of the Zionist regime’s long-standing war against the Palestinian people — a war rooted in racism, apartheid, and expansionist aggression. The operation, they said, represents a “new chapter in a brutal history of crimes against humanity” committed openly and without consequence.
“This is not just a war — it is a calculated genocide, unfolding in front of the world’s eyes,” the Union declared. “The Zionist entity and those who finance, arm, and shield it bear full responsibility for these unspeakable crimes.”
The Union did not shy away from criticizing Muslim-majority states and institutions, accusing them of abandoning the people of Gaza in their darkest hour.
“The silence and passivity of the Islamic Ummah is not neutrality — it is betrayal,” the statement read. “Their failure to cut ties, apply pressure, or even speak with courage is a stain of dishonor that history will not forget.”
The scholars stressed that the so-called “free world,” which claims to uphold human rights and international law, has also revealed its hypocrisy by standing idly by — or worse, aiding and abetting the Israeli war machine.
The Union issued a resounding call to action, urging Muslims worldwide — from political leaders and scholars to civil society, activists, and everyday citizens — to rise up and take every possible step to stop the genocide.
“The time for statements has passed. The blood of Gaza demands action,” they said. “We call on the Ummah to engage in every form of resistance: political, economic, media, and grassroots. Boycott the occupation. Pressure the complicit. Occupy the squares. Be the voice of the voiceless.”
The Union emphasized that the crimes being committed in Gaza are not just a Palestinian issue — they are a test of the Ummah’s conscience and the world’s moral compass.
“If we do not act now, then when?” the statement asked. “Each day of silence deepens our shame. Each moment of inaction costs another innocent life.”
In a direct message to Muslim leaders, the Union warned that their fear of losing political power is no excuse for abandoning the oppressed.
“Fear Allah, not your thrones,” the statement said. “History remembers those who stood for justice — and exposes those who bowed to tyranny.”
As Gaza endures one of the bloodiest assaults in modern memory, with entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble and a besieged population facing starvation and massacre, the Union’s message cuts through the political noise with a single demand: Awaken. Act. Resist. (ILKHA)
