The death toll from Israel’s ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip has risen to 73,431 Palestinians, while 174,437 others have been injured since October 7, 2023, according to medical sources in Gaza.

Gaza hospitals received the bodies of nine Palestinians killed over the past 24 hours, the sources said, as the humanitarian and medical crisis in the besieged territory continues.

Medical authorities said that since the ceasefire that took effect on October 11, 2025, at least 1,296 Palestinians have been killed and 4,296 injured.

A further 813 bodies have been recovered during the same period, adding to the mounting toll from the destruction across the Strip.

Despite the ceasefire, Gaza continues to face severe humanitarian challenges, with medical facilities struggling to cope with casualties and the consequences of widespread destruction.

Health authorities warned that the actual death toll could be higher, as a number of victims remain trapped beneath destroyed buildings and on roads that rescue teams have been unable to reach.

Ambulance crews and civil defense teams continue to face serious difficulties accessing affected areas and recovering the dead and wounded, further delaying the identification and burial of victims.

The continuing presence of bodies beneath the rubble also highlights the scale of destruction inflicted on Gaza's civilian infrastructure during the conflict.

For Palestinians across the Strip, the prolonged violence has left communities grappling with loss, displacement and the destruction of homes and essential services, while Gaza's already strained healthcare system remains under enormous pressure. (ILKHA)
