Gaza death toll rises to 57,338 as Israeli assault on civilians continues

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deepened over the past 24 hours as Israeli occupation forces continued their relentless bombardment of civilian areas, killing at least 70 more Palestinians and injuring 332 others, according to a statement by the Gaza Health Ministry on Saturday morning.
These latest casualties raise the total number of Palestinians martyred since Israel resumed its genocidal assault on March 18, 2025, to 6,780, with 23,916 wounded during that period alone. Since the start of the Israeli onslaught on October 7, 2023, the death toll has now climbed to a staggering 57,338, including 743 aid seekers who were targeted and killed near U.S.-backed humanitarian distribution points.
The number of wounded has also surged to 135,957, with 4,891 of them being civilians trying to access life-saving food and supplies amid the blockade and widespread destruction.
Hospitals—already overwhelmed, under-equipped, and frequently targeted—continue to receive the injured despite having no reliable electricity or sufficient medical resources. Medical staff work under impossible conditions, often risking their own lives to save others.
Meanwhile, search and rescue teams are racing against time to retrieve bodies still buried beneath the rubble in several areas across the besieged Strip. The Israeli military campaign has leveled entire neighborhoods, reduced critical infrastructure to ruins, and created what humanitarian groups describe as one of the worst man-made disasters in recent history.
Palestinian authorities, international human rights organizations, and numerous independent observers have condemned the Israeli offensive as a campaign of collective punishment and ethnic cleansing. Despite global calls for a ceasefire and mounting evidence of war crimes, the attacks continue with impunity, backed by powerful international allies.
The people of Gaza, enduring unimaginable loss and hardship, remain steadfast in their resistance and resilience. As the death toll climbs and the world watches, the demand for justice, accountability, and an end to the occupation grows louder from every corner of the Palestinian homeland. (ILKHA)
