Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit the United States from Sept. 20 to 23 to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.

Duran said Erdoğan is scheduled to address the General Debate on Sept. 22, the opening day of the high-level discussions.

The 81st session is being held under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”

During his visit, Erdoğan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres as well as heads of state and government from various countries, Duran said.

The Turkish president is also scheduled to participate in a series of meetings and events with representatives of the Turkish community in the United States, members of the Turkish-American business community and think-tank representatives.

Erdoğan's participation in the UN General Assembly will provide an opportunity for Türkiye to present its views on major international and regional developments while holding talks with leaders and senior officials attending the annual gathering. (ILKHA)
