Three women have been killed in separate suspected domestic violence-related incidents across Australia's New South Wales state within 24 hours, with men charged over two of the deaths and another man facing a murder charge in the third case.

The victims, aged 90, 70 and 23, died in incidents in Bondi Beach in Sydney, Mole River in the state's Northern Tablelands region and Kooringal in Wagga Wagga.

In Bondi Beach, police and paramedics were called to an apartment at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday after reports of an injured woman. The 90-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man, who police say was known to the woman, was arrested and charged with domestic violence-related murder. He was refused bail and is due to return to court on Sept. 24.

In Kooringal, emergency services responded to a home on Ziegler Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday after reports that a woman had been stabbed.

Paramedics and police attempted to revive the 23-year-old woman, but she died at the scene. An 18-year-old man was initially arrested and later released without charge.

Police subsequently arrested a 31-year-old man at a nearby property. He was charged with domestic violence-related murder and refused bail. Police allege that he and the victim were in a domestic relationship.

The third death occurred in Mole River, west of Tenterfield, where police were called to a property on Saturday night following reports of a domestic violence incident.

Officers initially arrested a 37-year-old man after he allegedly entered a property, attempted to take a vehicle and assaulted a 74-year-old man. During a subsequent search of a neighbouring property, officers found the body of a woman believed to be 70 years old.

A house on the property was also partially damaged by fire. The 37-year-old man has since been charged with murder and refused bail. Police allege he knew the woman. Her identity had not yet been formally confirmed.

The three killings have prompted renewed concern over domestic and family violence in New South Wales.

NSW Premier Chris Minns described the deaths as “shocking” and said his thoughts were with the victims' families and the affected communities. Government minister Sophie Cotsis said the deaths of three women within a day were “absolutely tragic” and called for action involving governments and communities.

The incidents also come against a broader backdrop of domestic violence-related killings in the state. Data from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research show that in the 12 months to March 2026, 33 people were killed in domestic violence-related incidents, including 17 adult women and four children.

Police investigations into all three deaths remain ongoing, and the allegations against the accused men have yet to be tested in court.

The concentration of three suspected domestic violence-related killings within a single 24-hour period has intensified calls for greater efforts to prevent violence against women and strengthen protections for people at risk in their own homes. (ILKHA)
