Erdoğan holds phone call with French President Macron
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron in a call requested by the French side, during which the leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation between Türkiye and France, stating that both countries will continue taking steps to strengthen ties.
On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Erdoğan highlighted Türkiye’s efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, noting that contacts with the parties involved are ongoing to revive the Istanbul process. He stressed that Türkiye is ready to do its utmost to open the door to peace as soon as possible.
“Diplomatic channels must be used most effectively to achieve lasting peace,” Erdoğan said. He added that Türkiye will continue to support efforts to secure a ceasefire and subsequent negotiations, and cautioned against steps that could jeopardize global stability.
The leaders also discussed developments in the Caucasus, Gaza, and Syria, underlining the importance of dialogue and international cooperation to address ongoing regional challenges. (ILKHA)
