Doctors Without Borders: Gaza aid plan is ‘failing catastrophically’ after Rafah attack

The international humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders, or MSF) has issued a scathing condemnation of a recent Israeli airstrike that killed at least 30 Palestinians and injured over 150 others in Rafah.
The victims were reportedly attempting to receive humanitarian aid at a distribution point in the Al-Mawasi area, west of the city.
In a strongly worded statement released following the attack, which occurred early Sunday morning, MSF denounced what it described as Israel’s ongoing manipulation and weaponization of humanitarian assistance in Gaza.
"This massacre is yet another example of how aid is being weaponized in this war," the organization stated. "The policies and restrictions enforced by Israeli authorities over the past 19 months reflect a broader pattern of inhuman treatment."
MSF warned that the current U.S.-Israeli aid strategy for Gaza is “failing catastrophically,” with humanitarian relief efforts severely constrained by tight Israeli control over access and delivery. The group highlighted that only a limited number of aid trucks are being permitted to enter the territory, a restriction that is compounding the already dire humanitarian crisis.
The organization further criticized Israel for directing aid flows only to selected zones where civilians are often forcibly concentrated, calling the strategy coercive and unethical.
"The humanitarian system in Gaza is suffocating," MSF stated, adding that the deliberate obstruction and manipulation of aid may amount to crimes against humanity under international law.
The incident in Al-Mawasi comes amid growing international concern over the scale of civilian suffering in Gaza and repeated warnings from aid agencies about the collapsing humanitarian infrastructure.
MSF called for immediate and unrestricted humanitarian access to all parts of Gaza and urged the international community to hold those responsible for the use of aid as a weapon to account. (ILKHA)
