Yemen's Houthi movement announced on Tuesday that it had carried out a drone strike targeting Najran Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, describing the operation as a response to what it said were repeated Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.

According to the group's military spokesperson, the attack was conducted using an unmanned aerial vehicle aimed at the airport, which the movement identified as a strategic facility near the Yemeni-Saudi border.

The Houthis said the operation came in retaliation for alleged Saudi aerial activities over Yemen, accusing Riyadh of continuing violations of the country's sovereignty through reconnaissance and military drone flights.

The group stated that its military operations are intended to respond to what it describes as ongoing aggression against Yemen and affirmed that it would continue exercising what it considers its legitimate right to defend the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Houthi officials reiterated that any continued military actions targeting Yemen or violations of its airspace would be met with what they described as "appropriate and proportionate responses."
