Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan strengthen economic cooperation ahead of Bishkek forum

Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, met with Turdakun Sydykov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Kabul, to discuss strengthening economic cooperation and trade relations ahead of the upcoming Kyrgyzstan Economic Forum.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the talks focused on the upcoming participation of a high-level delegation from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the forum. The agenda includes bilateral meetings with Kyrgyz officials as well as discussions with representatives from other nations attending the event.
A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish a joint working group dedicated to enhancing trade growth and improving transit routes between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The discussions also explored broader economic and trade opportunities involving not only Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan but also other regional partners. Particular emphasis was placed on advancing trade, transit, and investment agreements—especially a proposed trilateral accord between Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Progress on the Kyrgyzstan–Afghanistan–Kyrgyz road project was also reviewed, with both sides expressing commitment to advancing the initiative as a key regional connectivity route.
Ambassador Sydykov conveyed the Kyrgyz Ministry of Commerce and Economy’s readiness to work closely with Afghanistan, highlighting the potential for deepening trade and economic relations.
The upcoming Kyrgyzstan Economic Forum is expected to serve as an important platform for expanding bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation, further integrating Afghanistan into regional trade networks. (ILKHA)
