Afghan ambassador highlights Afghanistan’s role in regional stability
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakib, said that the security and stability prevailing in Afghanistan are in the shared interests of the region and the wider international community.
Shakib made the remarks during a ceremony hosted by the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad to commemorate the fifth anniversary of what the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan refers to as Victory Day.
According to a statement issued by the embassy, the ambassador said Afghanistan’s current security environment is beneficial not only to the Afghan people but also to neighboring countries and the broader international community.
“We are confident that this new phase of Afghanistan and its strong security are not only in the interest and need of the Afghan people, but also serve the shared interest and common need of the region and the world,” Shakib said.
He argued that a secure and stable Afghanistan could create greater opportunities for regional connectivity, economic cooperation and collective security.
The ambassador also emphasized Afghanistan’s potential to contribute to regional peace and prosperity, pointing to the country’s strategic position and its potential role in expanding trade and transportation links across the region.
“A secure and stable Afghanistan provides broad opportunities for regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and shared security, and can play a significant role in strengthening peace and prosperity in the region,” Shakib said.
He described the wider region as possessing significant potential for economic growth, connectivity and cooperation, suggesting that greater stability in Afghanistan could help unlock those opportunities.
Shakib’s comments come as Afghanistan’s authorities continue to emphasize regional economic integration and closer cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly in the areas of trade, transit, infrastructure and security. (ILKHA)
