Abu Obeida: Israeli troops suffering mounting losses in Gaza

As Israel’s devastating war on Gaza continues into its 465th day under the banner of “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,” Palestinian Resistance factions, led by Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, report sustained military operations against Israeli occupation forces, particularly in northern and central Gaza.
In a statement issued late Monday, Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for the al-Qassam Brigades, declared that Resistance fighters had inflicted over 10 deaths and dozens of injuries on Israeli forces in the past 72 hours alone.
“After more than 100 days of mass destruction and genocide perpetrated by the [Israeli] enemy army in the northern Gaza Strip, our fighters continue to inflict heavy losses and deal significant blows,” Abu Obeida said.
He emphasized that the true scale of Israeli casualties far exceeds what Tel Aviv has publicly acknowledged, suggesting that the occupation forces are deliberately concealing the extent of their battlefield losses.
“The only achievement the Israeli occupation army has made is destruction, devastation, and massacres against innocent people,” he added. “The enemy will retreat from the northern Gaza Strip in disgrace, unable to break the Resistance.”
The latest statement from al-Qassam comes amid reports of intensified confrontations in both northern and central Gaza, with Resistance factions carrying out targeted attacks on Israeli units attempting to advance or hold ground. Clashes have been reported in areas including Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Deir al-Balah, where Resistance fighters are said to be engaging in guerrilla tactics, including ambushes, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and sniper operations.
Despite Israel’s superior firepower and technological edge, Palestinian fighters continue to mount resilient defenses, often using their knowledge of the terrain to their advantage.
While Israel continues to assert it is targeting Hamas infrastructure, human rights organizations and U.N. agencies have documented widespread destruction of civilian homes, hospitals, schools, and infrastructure. Gaza’s health ministry has reported over 57,500 Palestinians killed, the vast majority women and children, since October 2023.
The scale of destruction and mass displacement has led international observers to label Israel’s military campaign as a potential genocide, a charge that is currently being reviewed by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Arrest warrants for war crimes have also been issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Despite immense suffering and overwhelming military odds, Palestinian Resistance factions have remained defiant. Al-Qassam’s latest announcement reflects a broader message being echoed across Gaza: that steadfastness and sacrifice will outlast occupation and aggression.
As global attention continues to focus on diplomatic efforts and humanitarian appeals, the Resistance insists that it will not lay down arms until Palestinian rights are restored and occupation forces are expelled. (ILKHA)
