Afghanistan, Pakistan hold first political consultative talks in Islamabad

The first round of the Political Consultative Mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Pakistan took place in Islamabad, marking a significant step in bilateral dialogue.
According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Afghan delegation was led by Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor, Director of the First Political Department, while Pakistan’s team was headed by Syed Ali Asad Gilani, Additional Secretary for Afghanistan and West Asia. The talks focused on strengthening political ties, trade, transit cooperation, and regional connectivity, with both sides exchanging views on regional and international political issues.
Key discussions centered on addressing challenges faced by Afghan prisoners and refugees in Pakistan and facilitating visa issuance for Afghan patients and traders. Both delegations committed to ongoing engagement to resolve these issues and emphasized that enhanced security is vital for regional development and deeper bilateral relations.
