98 Palestinians killed in 24 hours as Gaza death toll surpasses 60,400

At least 98 Palestinians were killed and 1,079 others injured in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours amid the ongoing Israeli military campaign, according to medical sources.
Local health authorities reported that since the outbreak of Israel’s assault on October 7, 2023, the death toll has reached 60,430 Palestinians, with an additional 148,722 people wounded. Officials emphasized that the majority of the victims are women and children.
The figures also include casualties from Israel’s resumed offensive after the collapse of a two-month truce on March 18. Since that date, at least 9,246 Palestinians have been killed and 36,681 wounded, according to health officials.
Emergency services across the enclave remain overwhelmed, with many victims trapped under rubble or lying in the streets. Health authorities said ongoing Israeli attacks on ambulance and civil defense teams have further hindered rescue efforts.
Israel’s military operations continue despite repeated calls by the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and orders by the International Court of Justice instructing Israel to take measures to prevent genocide and address the severe humanitarian crisis.
The war has left large swathes of Gaza in ruins, with infrastructure devastated, hospitals overwhelmed, and hundreds of thousands displaced. Humanitarian agencies continue to warn that without urgent action, the death toll will rise further. (ILKHA)
