Türkiye’s Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, has strongly condemned Israel’s latest attacks on the Gaza Strip, accusing the Israeli government of undermining ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and achieve lasting peace.

Duran said the strikes, which targeted civilians and healthcare infrastructure, came as renewed diplomatic initiatives had raised hopes of ending the conflict.

“At a time when diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and achieve lasting peace in Gaza have offered renewed hope, Israel’s latest attacks targeting civilians and healthcare infrastructure are deliberately undermining every initiative toward peace,” he said.

Duran argued that the attacks demonstrated complete disregard for the lives of women, children and other innocent civilians, and showed that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was seeking to prolong rather than resolve the conflict.

“These attacks, which show complete disregard for the right to life of women, children and innocent civilians, clearly demonstrate that the Netanyahu government is intent not on ending the conflict, but on deepening the crisis,” he stated.

Calling for a stronger international response, Duran urged the global community to take a more effective and principled stance against policies that threaten regional peace and stability.

“The international community must adopt a more effective and principled stance to put an end to these aggressive policies that threaten regional stability,” he said.

Reaffirming Türkiye’s position on the Palestinian issue, Duran stressed that Ankara would continue to advocate for international law, humanitarian principles and the rights of the Palestinian people. Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he added, Türkiye would maintain its support for initiatives aimed at securing a just, lasting and sustainable peace while standing by the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The statement comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts by regional and international actors to revive ceasefire negotiations and increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza, where the humanitarian situation has continued to deteriorate following months of conflict. (ILKHA)
