Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Kuwait's Foreign Minister Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East amid heightened regional tensions, Turkish diplomatic sources said.

According to the sources, the two ministers exchanged views on the evolving security situation in the region. No further details of the conversation were disclosed.

The phone call came as tensions remain high following recent military developments involving Iran and several Gulf states.

On Saturday, Kuwait announced that its armed forces had intercepted and destroyed several drones after what authorities described as attacks targeting a government facility and civilian vehicles on Bubiyan Island in the country's north.

Defense Ministry spokesman Saud Al-Atwan said Kuwaiti forces detected what he described as "hostile drones" in the country's airspace early Saturday before successfully neutralizing them.

According to Kuwaiti officials, the incident caused material damage to a government installation and vehicles belonging to a civilian company operating on the island. No casualties were reported.

Kuwait attributed the drone attack to Iran, an allegation on which Tehran has not publicly commented.

The latest developments come amid continued instability across the Middle East following months of military confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
