Türkiye's Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) convened on Tuesday at the Presidential Complex in Ankara under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with senior government officials and top military commanders gathering to assess key personnel matters affecting the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

The annual meeting is one of the most significant events in Türkiye's military calendar, during which the council reviews promotions, appointments, extensions of service, and retirements of generals, admirals, and other senior officers. The meeting was attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Chief of the General Staff Gen. Metin Gürak, Land Forces Commander Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Naval Forces Commander Adm. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and Air Forces Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu.

The Supreme Military Council plays a central role in shaping the leadership structure of the Turkish Armed Forces by determining promotions to higher ranks, extending the terms of senior officers, and deciding on retirements due to age or vacancies.

This year's meeting comes as Türkiye continues to modernize its armed forces while addressing an increasingly complex regional security environment.
