Mawlid Al Nabi celebration begins in Diyarbakır with strong messages of unity and resistance

Thousands have converged at Newroz Park Rally Area in Diyarbakır for a vibrant Mawlid Al Nabi celebration organized by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation.
The event, themed “Resistance Leader Prophet Muhammad,” began at 13:30 with a recitation of the Holy Quran by renowned Qari Sangar Sayın from Iraqi Kurdistan.
Attendees, arriving from Diyarbakır’s districts and neighboring provinces, filled the rally site hours in advance, waving Tawhid and Palestinian flags in a display of unity. The venue featured two large platforms hosting Islamic scholars, political leaders, and NGO representatives from Turkey and abroad. HÜDA PAR President Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu received a warm welcome, taking a seat on the honorary platform.
Large banners of Palestinian resistance figures, including Muhammad Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Abu Hamza, adorned the site alongside posters of local martyrs killed in the 2014 PKK/HDP-led violence. The event, co-hosted by Emin Gülsever and Fatih Taş, featured Mawlid-i Sharif recitations and Islamic hymns by artists from the Özlem Agency, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.
Ömer Çelik of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation delivered the organization’s message, while Marwan Abu Asim, a HAMAS Member of Parliament and head of the Palestine Commission of the World Union of Scholars, spoke on Muslim unity and resistance. Mehmet Göktaş, the Foundation’s Honorary President, was set to deliver a keynote address, with the event concluding in a final prayer led by Mullah Recai Güler of ITTIHADUL ULEMA.
Strict security measures included separate entry points for men and women, complemented by health tents, water stations, and lost child services. The celebration was broadcast live on Rehber TV, reaching a nationwide audience.
The gathering underscored Diyarbakır’s role as a hub of spiritual and political expression, blending prophetic reverence with a call for resistance and solidarity. (ILKHA)
