Hope Caravan calls for urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza on World Humanitarian Day

Nurettin Teymur, President of the Hope Caravan Association (Umut Kervanı Derneği) in Batman, issued a heartfelt appeal on World Humanitarian Day, highlighting the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza under the Israeli occupation regime.
Speaking on the somber occasion, Teymur stated that “August 19 is celebrated as World Humanitarian Day, but unfortunately, this day holds no meaning” as the world watches in silence while atrocities continue in Gaza.” He emphasized the urgent need for global action against the ongoing genocide and oppression.
Teymur described the daily dangers faced by Gazans even while seeking basic aid. “Some are being killed while carrying water, others while receiving aid. Therefore, it is essential for humanity to act together and open an aid corridor,” he said. He warned that failing to intervene would leave this crisis marked as a permanent stain on human conscience.
Highlighting Hope Caravan’s efforts, Teymur explained that the organization has sent hot meals and cash aid to Gaza but has been unable to deliver in-kind assistance due to the Israeli blockade. He appealed directly to philanthropists: “Please do not abandon Gaza; let us extend a helping hand to them. Hunger is rampant in Gaza right now. Every day, we see children dying of starvation. Our conscience and hearts ache.”
Teymur also called on governments and international organizations to urgently open a humanitarian aid corridor, asserting that immediate action is necessary to save countless lives.
Locally, Hope Caravan continues to support needy families in Batman. Teymur announced the launch of a stationery aid campaign for the upcoming school year, setting a target aid amount of 1,500 TL and encouraging philanthropists to contribute.
Through these initiatives, the association continues to serve as a vital bridge for humanitarian assistance, advocating for the people of Gaza while providing critical support to vulnerable communities at home. (ILKHA)
