Erdoğan to chair critical cabinet meeting on security and economy

The Turkish Cabinet is set to reconvene on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Presidential Complex in Beştepe, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The meeting will address a comprehensive agenda, focusing on national security, economic reforms, and pressing foreign policy issues.
A key priority will be the “Terror-Free Turkey” initiative, with discussions centered on the ongoing fight against the PKK. The Cabinet will review progress in disarmament efforts and address recent provocations, as highlighted by President Erdoğan in prior statements. New measures to counter destabilization threats are expected to be considered.
On the economic front, the Cabinet will evaluate anti-inflation strategies and discuss proposed pension adjustments, particularly for those receiving minimum pensions and low base salaries, in anticipation of July’s planned increases. Public sector wage negotiations for laborers will also be on the table.
Foreign policy discussions will focus on the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, alongside the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Türkiye’s mediation role in the region will be assessed, as will developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. President Erdoğan is also expected to brief the Cabinet on his bilateral talks at the recent NATO Summit, where security alliances and diplomatic engagements were key topics.
Official statements on the outcomes of the meeting are expected in the coming days, with further details to be released as decisions are finalized. (ILKHA)
