4.3 magnitude earthquake rattles Türkiye’s northwest

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Gemlik district of Bursa province in northwestern Türkiye on Tuesday at 13:57 local time, according to Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The quake, centered at a depth of 12.91 kilometers, sent tremors across the region, including Istanbul, about 100 kilometers northeast of the epicenter.
No immediate reports of damage or injuries have surfaced, but the quake sparked panic as residents in Bursa, Istanbul, and nearby provinces evacuated buildings.
The region, situated along active fault lines, has a history of seismic activity, prompting heightened alertness among emergency teams now monitoring for potential aftershocks.
