Afghan, Iranian delegations discuss joint investment in mining, manufacturing and e-commerce
Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi has met with an Iranian economic delegation in Kabul to discuss expanding bilateral economic cooperation, including investment in iron ore extraction, manufacturing and online commerce.
The talks focused on the extraction and processing of iron ore in the Ghoryan district of Herat province, strengthening banking relations between the two countries, establishing a factory in Afghanistan to package Iranian household appliances, and developing joint investment opportunities in e-commerce.
Azizi welcomed the participation of Iranian companies in the fifth Imam Abu Hanifa Exhibition, highlighting the importance of private-sector engagement in strengthening trade and investment ties between Afghanistan and Iran.
The minister also asked the Iranian delegation to submit a detailed proposal to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for establishing a household appliance packaging factory in Afghanistan.
The proposed project could provide a new avenue for industrial cooperation, while discussions on iron ore extraction and processing could create opportunities to develop Afghanistan’s mining sector and attract foreign investment.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Kabul and Tehran to expand economic relations through trade, industrial projects and private-sector partnerships. (ILKHA)
