US base in eastern Syria's Deir Ezzur hit by missile attack
A US military base located within the Conoco gas field in eastern Syria came under attack on Saturday, according to a Syrian military source.
Five missiles struck the base, with three directly impacting the facility and two landing nearby. Following the attack, US helicopters were observed in the area.
This incident marks the latest in a series of attacks targeting US and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, which have intensified since Israeli aggression against Gaza began in October 2023.
In a related development, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for a drone strike against an Israeli target in the occupied Palestinian city of Umm al-Rashrash earlier this week. The group stated that the attack was in support of Palestinians and in retaliation for Israeli actions in Gaza.
It's worth noting that the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has carried out multiple operations against Israeli targets, including recent strikes on Israeli ports.
A similar attack occurred in February when a suicide drone targeted the same US base in Deir Ezzor, causing a significant explosion. (ILKHA)
