Tulkarm under siege: 25,000 Palestinians displaced as Israeli forces escalate raids

The Israeli occupation forces have entered their 115th consecutive day of brutal aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its refugee camps, including Nur Shams, now under assault for the 102nd day, amid an intensifying campaign of military violence, mass displacement, and deliberate destruction.
According to local sources, the Israeli forces continue to raid residential areas, encircle refugee camps, and suffocate the city with siege tactics. Military vehicles frequently roam the streets of Tulkarm and its suburbs, often blaring sirens and driving against traffic, spreading fear among residents. Surprise checkpoints are set up daily across the city center, particularly near Nablus Street and Shuweika Roundabout, further isolating the population.
In the early hours of Wednesday, a Zionist infantry unit stormed the Dhnaba suburb from Nur Shams camp, conducting intensive searches and home invasions. During the raid, a young man, Amara Mar’i, was violently arrested from his home in the Rashid neighborhood.
The occupation’s suffocating siege on both Tulkarm and Nur Shams has been accompanied by sporadic gunfire, explosions, and psychological warfare. Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli troops carried out mysterious explosions in a wooded area near Nur Shams, while forcibly displaced families were prevented from returning to their homes, often shot at when trying to recover belongings.
Local sources confirm that families in Jabal al-Salihin were ordered to evacuate their homes, and bulldozers blocked off Stadium Street, cutting access to critical areas. This comes as part of a deliberate Israeli policy of demographic erasure and territorial transformation. In just the past few days, over 20 homes have been demolished in Nur Shams camp, with 106 buildings marked for destruction, as the occupation aims to reconfigure the geography of the camps and expand military control.
Israeli forces have seized numerous homes on Nablus Street and in the northern neighborhoods, forcibly evacuating residents and converting the properties into military outposts, many of which have been occupied for over two months.
Since the beginning of the assault, 13 Palestinians have been martyred, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens more have been wounded or abducted. The scale of systematic destruction is staggering — over 400 homes have been entirely destroyed, with another 2,573 homes partially damaged, along with widespread looting, arson, and targeting of civilian infrastructure including shops and vehicles.
More than 4,200 families — over 25,000 people — have been forcibly displaced, turning Tulkarm and its camps into ghost towns. The occupation forces have sealed off entrances and camp alleys with earth mounds, effectively turning the area into a prison, void of any signs of normal life.
The situation in Tulkarm represents a deliberate, calculated attempt by the Israeli occupation to crush Palestinian resistance, displace the population, and erase the existence of entire communities under the guise of security operations.
Despite the devastating toll, the people of Tulkarm and Nur Shams continue to resist the occupation’s brutality, refusing to surrender their land and identity in the face of an overwhelming military onslaught. As the siege drags on, calls are growing louder across Palestine and the world for an end to the aggression, international accountability, and protection for Palestinian civilians subjected to ongoing war crimes.
