Slovakia’s PM Eduard Heger resigns amid political crisis

Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger has resigned from his position on May 7 due to a series of resignations from his caretaker cabinet, which made his position untenable.
President Zuzana Caputova has nominated Ludovit Odor, the Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia, to lead a technocratic cabinet until snap elections are held in September.
Caputova emphasized the need for stability, order, expertise, and a return to decent politics in Slovakia.
This appointment of a technocratic cabinet marks the end of the center-right coalition that came to power in March 2020 after mass protests against Prime Minister Robert Fico following the murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée.
