Putin and Erdoğan to hold bilateral talks on sidelines of Turkmenistan forum
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in Ashgabat tomorrow, Friday, December 12, the Kremlin's official representative, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed on Thursday.
The bilateral meeting will take place on the sidelines of an international forum in the Turkmen capital, held to mark a significant milestone for the Central Asian nation.
Kremlin spokesman Peskov stated: “Tomorrow the president will work in Ashgabat; he is preparing for a visit to Turkmenistan. An international forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust will be held. Within the framework of this forum, the president is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings, including a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.”
The main events in Ashgabat on December 12 are dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the recognition of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality by the United Nations. This occasion is being highlighted by an international forum, which has drawn multiple heads of state and government.
