Israeli regime targets Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya leader in Lebanon

Israeli occupation regime assassinated a senior military figure from al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, a Lebanese Islamic movement known for its staunch support of the Palestinian resistance, particularly Hamas.
The targeted strike took place Tuesday near the town of Damour, approximately 20 kilometers south of Beirut.
According to Lebanese Civil Defense sources, an Israeli drone launched a precision strike on a vehicle traveling in the area. Rescue teams later recovered the body of a martyr from the smoldering wreckage. Lebanese security officials, speaking anonymously, confirmed the identity of the slain as a military commander of al-Jamaa al-Islamiya.
This latest violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty underscores the ongoing and indiscriminate Israeli campaign of assassinations and destabilization in the region. The martyrdom of this resistance figure is part of a broader Zionist strategy to weaken Islamic movements that stand firm in defense of Palestinian rights and liberation.
Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, a longtime ally of Hamas, has played an important role in mobilizing solidarity across Lebanon in support of Gaza and the resistance axis. The group’s leadership has yet to issue a formal statement, but supporters across Lebanon have vowed that the path of resistance will not be deterred by acts of state terror.
Observers note that this attack further inflames tensions in Lebanon, where Israeli drones regularly violate airspace in clear defiance of international law. Resistance movements and political voices across the region continue to call for unity and steadfastness in the face of occupation, aggression, and colonial violence. (ILKHA)
