Tubas Governorate in the northern occupied West Bank has entered its second consecutive day under an unprecedented, full-scale Israeli military assault, as occupation forces impose a suffocating siege, carry out mass arrests, and violently storm homes, schools, and civilian institutions.

Since early Wednesday dawn, heavily armed Israeli forces launched sweeping incursions into Tubas and its surrounding towns—Tammun, ‘Aqaba, and Tayasir—arresting more than 100 Palestinians and injuring at least 25 others, according to local authorities.

Severe Beatings, Field Interrogations, and Torture-Like Abuse

Nidal Odeh, Director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Tubas, confirmed that medical teams treated at least 25 individuals who were brutally assaulted, including detainees who were subjected to physical beatings and interrogation before being released. Several were brought to medical points still in handcuffs.

Kamal Bani Odeh, Director of the Palestinian Prisoners Society in Tubas, said occupation troops continue to storm homes throughout the governorate, detaining Palestinians and transferring them to makeshift field interrogation centers. Over half of the detainees are from the steadfast town of Tammun, which has faced some of the most aggressive raids.

Twenty-seven Palestinians were released late Wednesday night, many of whom arrived home with shackles still attached, underscoring the degrading treatment meted out by occupation soldiers.

In one alarming incident, Israeli forces seized an injured Palestinian from inside an ambulance, stopping paramedics at the entrance of Tammun and forcibly detaining the wounded man despite his medical condition—yet another violation of international humanitarian law.

Occupation Troops Turn Civilian Buildings Into Military Bases

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces forcibly evacuated several buildings in Tubas, Tammun, ‘Aqaba, and Tayasir, turning them into military outposts. Homes were vandalized, property was destroyed, and water lines were deliberately damaged, leaving families with restricted access to basic necessities.

Siege Paralyzes Daily Life: Shops Shut Down, Schools Closed, Movement Blocked

Commercial life in Tubas has ground to a complete halt. Nearly all shops are shuttered under threat from occupation forces. Only a handful of bakeries continue operating to meet basic needs, despite the risk of closure or raids at any moment.

Just two pharmacies remain partially open, struggling to provide essential medications while Israeli checkpoints inside the city block movement and soldiers assault anyone attempting to pass.

The Tubas Directorate of Education suspended all public schools and kindergartens for safety reasons. This morning, Israeli forces stormed a school in Tammun and destroyed its main gate, deepening fears of an attack on educational institutions.

Tubas Governor Ahmad al-As’ad announced a full suspension of work in all public and private institutions, stating that the occupation intends to “cut off the governorate’s areas from one another and paralyze the movement of the Palestinian people.”

Farmers Prevented From Reaching Their Lands, Threatening Livelihoods

At the Tayasir military checkpoint—closed for prolonged hours and now under even tighter restrictions—Israeli forces are preventing Palestinian farmers from reaching their agricultural lands. Residents say crops are already at risk of spoilage, threatening the governorate’s agricultural sector and deepening the economic crisis.

48 Hours of Escalating Military Aggression

The Israeli military assault on Tubas has continued relentlessly for more than 48 hours, marked by heavy troop reinforcements, bulldozers tearing through roads and property, and armored vehicles surrounding towns and villages.

At the outset of the incursion, Israeli helicopters flew at low altitude over the governorate, firing multiple rounds indiscriminately—an intimidating show of force that left residents, especially children, in a state of fear.

A Governorate Under Siege

With movement choked, schools closed, shops shut, homes stormed, and mass detentions underway, Tubas Governorate is experiencing one of the most intense Israeli assaults in recent years. Residents warn that the occupation aims to break the spirit of the governorate, long known for its resilience and its strategic location near the Jordan Valley.
