Head of Hamas's Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya has called on Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye to intensify efforts to pressure Israel into halting repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and to compel it to fulfill its commitments under the deal.

According to a statement issued by Hamas on Thursday, al-Hayya sent letters to the leaders of the three mediating countries, warning that Israel has deliberately escalated its violations of the ceasefire in an effort to undermine ongoing negotiations and evade its obligations under the signed agreement.

Al-Hayya said the alleged violations include attacks targeting civilians, the destruction of residential homes, the reoccupation of additional areas in the Gaza Strip, and continued restrictions on the entry of humanitarian relief and medical supplies needed by the territory's population.

He stressed that such actions threaten the progress achieved through mediation efforts and risk derailing the ceasefire process at a critical stage.

The Hamas official further argued that Israel's actions run counter to the efforts and intentions of the mediating countries, as well as the broader international community seeking to maintain calm and prevent a renewed escalation in the besieged enclave.

Al-Hayya urged Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye to take immediate steps to ensure Israel abides by the terms of the ceasefire agreement, preserves the existing understandings, and facilitates a smooth transition to the second phase of the truce, which is expected to include further humanitarian measures and broader political negotiations.

The appeal comes amid continued tensions in the Gaza Strip, where repeated accusations of ceasefire violations have raised concerns about the durability of the agreement and the prospects for advancing negotiations toward a more lasting cessation of hostilities. (ILKHA)
