Hamas reaffirms dedication to sustaining Gaza ceasefire until fully implemented

Senior Hamas official and head of the movement’s negotiating delegation, Khalil al-Hayya, affirmed on Tuesday that the Gaza ceasefire agreement will remain in effect until its conclusion, underscoring Hamas’ dedication to peace and the welfare of civilians.
In an interview with Al-Qahera News from Cairo, Hayya stated, “We are determined to see the agreement through to its end. The agreement will endure because we want it to endure, and our commitment to it is strong.” He emphasized that the international efforts which contributed to the ceasefire reflect a global consensus recognizing the end of hostilities in Gaza.
Hayya specifically praised the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, highlighting the international gathering hosted by Egypt and attended by U.S. President Donald Trump as a guarantee that the war in Gaza has ended.
“All the assurances we have received from the mediators and the U.S. President reassure us that the war has ended with no return,” Hayya stressed.
Addressing the sensitive issue of the remains of Israeli hostages in Gaza, Hayya emphasized Hamas’ commitment to returning all bodies in accordance with the agreement.
“We have no interest or desire to keep anyone,” he said, adding that, “Their remains should be returned to their families, just as the remains of our martyrs should be returned to their families and buried with dignity.”
Hayya explained the challenges of recovering the bodies due to the extensive destruction across Gaza, noting that some are buried under rubble and that retrieving them requires time and heavy equipment.
“But with determination and will — God willing — we will complete this file in full,” he assured, highlighting Hamas’ dedication to humanitarian obligations and the dignity of all victims.
Hamas’ statements come amid continued international focus on maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring that humanitarian processes, including the recovery and dignified burial of the dead, are completed in line with international standards. (ILKHA)
