Arab Parliament condemns Israeli strikes on Syria as “blatant violation of sovereignty”
Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yammahi strongly condemned the latest Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, including the strikes that targeted villages in the Damascus countryside, calling them a clear breach of international law and a direct threat to regional security.
In a statement issued Sunday, Al-Yammahi said the continued aggression exposes what he described as a “systematic escalation policy” pursued by the Israeli occupation, disregarding international legitimacy and the UN Charter, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
He urged the international community to assume both its legal and moral responsibilities by acting swiftly to halt Israeli assaults on Syrian land, prevent their recurrence, and hold the perpetrators accountable. Al-Yammahi stressed that failure to deter such violations encourages further destabilization across the region.
Reaffirming the Arab Parliament’s position, he expressed full solidarity with Syria and support for Damascus’s efforts to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He noted that any attack on an Arab nation constitutes an attack on collective Arab national security.
The condemnation comes amid rising tensions following a string of Israeli strikes in recent weeks, which Syrian authorities say have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. Arab leaders continue to warn that the ongoing Israeli operations risk igniting a broader confrontation in an already volatile region. (ILKHA)
