Arab League slams Israeli annexation remarks as 'dangerous and irresponsible'

The Arab League has strongly condemned recent remarks by Israel’s Justice Minister calling for the annexation of the occupied West Bank, labeling the statements as “dangerous and irresponsible.”
In an official statement, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit criticized the comments, warning that they reflect a pattern of political arrogance and disregard for international law. “Such rhetoric threatens to escalate tensions in an already volatile region and cannot be ignored by the international community,” he said.
Aboul Gheit reaffirmed that the West Bank remains occupied Palestinian territory under international law, and any move toward annexation constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms and United Nations resolutions.
He urged world powers to confront what he described as “political bullying” and reaffirm their commitment to a just and lasting solution based on the two-state framework.
The Arab League’s condemnation comes amid growing concern over rising Israeli settler activity and inflammatory political discourse, which many fear could derail efforts to achieve peace and further destabilize the region. (ILKHA)
