Afghanistan to expand telecom network with 11 new towers
Afghanistan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched a new project to improve telecommunications services in remote parts of the country by signing agreements for the construction of 11 telecom towers across seven provinces.
The ministry said the new infrastructure will be installed in selected areas of Takhar, Samangan, Baghlan, Paktia, Paktika, Khost and Logar, where access to telecommunications services remains limited.
The project is intended to strengthen network coverage and improve access to communication services for residents of rural and underserved communities.
Three telecommunications companies will participate in the project, with construction to be carried out under the supervision of the relevant authorities. The initiative is financed through Afghanistan's Telecommunications Development Fund.
The ministry said the latest project is part of its broader strategy to expand telecommunications infrastructure across the country.
Officials noted that hundreds of telecom towers have already been brought into service under previous development programs, while work on additional sites is continuing to extend network coverage to more remote regions.(ILKHA)
