Drate Resul Abdurrahman, who previously served as a senior pastor overseeing 27 Protestant churches in Uganda, has spoken about his journey to Islam during a visit to Türkiye.

Abdurrahman is among 24 participants visiting Türkiye as part of the “Feel the Spirit of Islam” project, jointly organized by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) and Konya Metropolitan Municipality.

During his visit, Abdurrahman described the experiences that led him to embrace Islam, saying that he began having the same dream repeatedly in 2021.

According to Abdurrahman, the dream continued for approximately six months. Seeking an explanation for what he was experiencing, he eventually met with an imam and discussed the matter with him.

He said the encounter and the subsequent process led him to embrace Islam.

Abdurrahman previously served as a head pastor in Uganda's Protestant Church and was responsible for overseeing 27 churches. His account of becoming Muslim has attracted attention during his visit to Türkiye, where he is taking part in a program introducing participants to Islamic heritage and religious life.

The group of 24 participants arrived in Türkiye under the “Feel the Spirit of Islam” project, which aims to introduce visitors from different countries to Türkiye's Islamic heritage, religious institutions and historical sites.

After visiting Istanbul, Abdurrahman and the other participants traveled to Konya, a city renowned for its Islamic heritage and its association with the renowned Muslim scholar and Sufi poet Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi.

During their stay, they visited historical and spiritual sites across the city, learning about Konya's centuries-old Islamic cultural heritage.

Abdurrahman's visit has also provided an opportunity to share his personal experience of discovering Islam with people involved in the project, while allowing him to explore Türkiye's religious and cultural heritage firsthand. (ILKHA)
