84 irregular migrants intercepted off Türkiye’s Aydın coast
A total of 84 irregular migrants were intercepted after two rubber boats were stopped by Turkish Coast Guard teams off the coasts of Kuşadası and Didim districts in Türkiye’s Aydın province.
As part of efforts to combat irregular migration, Turkish Coast Guard teams carried out two separate operations off the Aydın coast.
A Coast Guard Mobile Radar (MORAD-13) unit operating in Kuşadası detected irregular migrants aboard a moving rubber boat.
Following the detection, a Coast Guard vessel (KB-87) was dispatched to the area and stopped the boat. During inspections, 24 irregular migrants were found on board, including 21 Iraqi nationals, one Syrian, one Sudanese and one citizen of the Central African Republic.
In another operation off Didim, a Coast Guard vessel (TCSG-21) was sent to the area after receiving information about irregular migrants aboard a rubber boat.
Teams identified 60 irregular migrants from Sierra Leone, Sudan, Ethiopia, Congo, Angola, Eritrea and Chad. Six children were among those intercepted.
Authorities said legal procedures have been initiated regarding the 84 irregular migrants detained in the two separate operations.(ILKHA)
