Türkiye welcomes framework for peace between DR Congo and M23
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the signing of the Doha Framework for a Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the AFC/M23 rebel group.
In an official statement, the ministry described the framework as a significant step toward a lasting solution to the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC, which has caused widespread displacement and insecurity in the region.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also commended the efforts of all actors involved in the peace process, highlighting Qatar’s role as a facilitator in helping achieve the agreement.
“Türkiye will continue to support all efforts aimed at establishing peace, security, and stability in Africa,” the statement added, emphasizing Ankara’s commitment to the stability of the Great Lakes Region.
The Doha Framework is expected to pave the way for further negotiations and implementation measures to ensure long-term peace and development in the conflict-affected regions of the DRC. (ILKHA)
