Orphans Foundation brings daily hot meals to Gaza families
The Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı), a non-governmental organization based in Türkiye, has launched the “A Table Every Day” project to bring food relief and hope to Gazans enduring severe shortages of basic necessities.
The Foundation officials describe the initiative as a bridge connecting donors across Türkiye and abroad with Gaza’s struggling residents.
“Every table we set is an act of solidarity,” a spokesperson for the foundation said. “With the help of our supporters, we want to ensure that no family goes hungry despite the devastation surrounding them.”
Through a network of local volunteers, the Orphans Foundation prepares thousands of hot meals daily and distributes them directly to families, widows, and orphaned children living in tents and temporary shelters.
The meals — often consisting of rice, lentils, and bread — are delivered by volunteer teams navigating bomb-damaged roads and overcrowded refugee zones. For many Gazans, these meals are their only source of nourishment amid food shortages and widespread unemployment.
According to UN agencies, Gaza’s 2.3 million residents face one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with nearly the entire population in need of food assistance and over 80 percent displaced since the escalation of hostilities.
The foundation credits its sustained operations to contributions from Turkish citizens and international donors. Officials said the program will continue “as long as support allows,” with the goal of reaching more households every week.
“With continued donations, we will not stop,” the Orphans Foundation said in a written statement. “Our mission is to reach every family in need and to remind them that they are not alone.”
The organization also provides other essential supplies when possible — including flour, cooking oil, and hygiene kits — while emphasizing the importance of long-term support for Gaza’s recovery.
For many beneficiaries, the initiative represents more than a meal; it symbolizes international solidarity and compassion in a place where daily survival has become a struggle.
“Each meal we deliver carries a message of humanity that transcends borders,” the foundation spokesperson added.
As Gaza’s humanitarian crisis deepens, projects like “A Table Every Day” continue to offer a small but vital lifeline — proof, the foundation says, that generosity can persist even in the shadow of war. (ILKHA)
