Türkiye vows to stand against attempts to destabilize Syria
Türkiye has rejected allegations made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, accusing the Israeli government of using “untenable” claims to justify airstrikes against Syria and pursuing destabilizing policies in the region.
The Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications said the allegations were aimed at legitimizing what it described as Israel’s unlawful attacks against Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The untenable allegations put forward by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office are intended to legitimise Israel’s unlawful airstrikes targeting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
Türkiye also linked the Israeli government’s accusations to Netanyahu’s domestic political calculations, alleging that he was pursuing expansionist and destabilizing policies in the region ahead of elections in Israel.
“The imputations voiced stem from Netanyahu’s intent to pursue expansionist and destabilising policies in the region ahead of the elections in Israel,” the statement said.
Ankara said it supports efforts to establish lasting peace and stability across the region and stressed that such an outcome could only be achieved through respect for international law.
“Türkiye, like the vast majority of the international community, stands for the consolidation of lasting peace in our region,” the Communications Directorate said.
“The sole path to this objective lies in Netanyahu’s abandonment of his aggressive and coercive policies and in his respect for international law,” it added.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding Israel’s military actions in Syria, with Ankara warning that continued attacks threaten the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Türkiye said it would continue working with the Syrian government on what it described as a legitimate basis to promote peace, stability and prosperity in Syria.
“Türkiye will resolutely continue to cooperate with the Syrian Government on a legitimate basis for the establishment of peace, stability, and prosperity in Syria, and will never allow the destabilisation of Syria,” the statement said.
Ankara’s remarks underscore its opposition to any actions that could further destabilize Syria, while reaffirming its commitment to supporting Syria’s territorial integrity and efforts toward lasting regional stability. (ILKHA)
