Türkiye to impose air traffic restrictions at Ankara Esenboğa Airport during NATO Summit
Türkiye has intensified security and transportation preparations in the capital, Ankara, ahead of next week’s NATO leaders’ summit, introducing temporary flight restrictions at Ankara Esenboğa Airport and deploying thousands of security personnel throughout the city.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure , the restrictions will be in effect from 10:00 to 18:00 local time on July 7 and 14:00 to 21:00 on July 8 as part of security and operational measures linked to the summit.
Civilian and military aircraft transporting foreign heads of state and their official delegations will be exempt from the restrictions.
The ministry said exempted flights operating through Esenboğa Airport must include the code "STS/ATFMX" in Field 18 of their flight plan to qualify for the exemption.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest flight information with their respective airlines to avoid possible disruptions during the restriction periods.
The temporary measures are being implemented to facilitate the safe arrival and departure of delegations attending the NATO Summit in Ankara. (ILKHA)
