Türkiye extends warm congratulations to Bosnia and Herzegovina on statehood day
Türkiye has congratulated Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of its Statehood Day, reaffirming the deep historical friendship and enduring brotherhood between the two nations.
In a statement shared Tuesday on the social media platform X, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said: “Congratulations to friendly and brotherly Bosnia and Herzegovina for the 25 November Statehood Day.” Ankara emphasized that Türkiye remains committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Bosnia and Herzegovina marks Statehood Day every year on November 25, commemorating a pivotal moment in its modern history. On this date in 1943, the State Anti-fascist Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBIH) adopted a landmark resolution affirming the collective will of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s peoples to establish their country as a republic. The decision represented a foundational step toward the country’s post-war political structure and remains a symbol of unity and resistance against fascism.
Türkiye and Bosnia and Herzegovina maintain close political, cultural, and economic ties, with Ankara consistently highlighting its support for peace and prosperity in the Balkans. In recent years, cooperation between the two countries has expanded across trade, security, and infrastructure development, further strengthening the longstanding alliance. (ILKHA)
