Türkiye extends military mandates in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon

Türkiye’s parliamentary approval extends the duration of the country’s military presence in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, including UN peacekeeping operations in Lebanon.
Türkiye’s Presidential mandates regarding military authority and deployment in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon have been approved by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) and published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decisions, the term of Turkish troops serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has been extended by two years.
In addition, the mandate authorizing Türkiye to deploy troops across borders for counterterrorism operations in Iraq and Syria has been extended by three years, effective from October 30, 2025.
The mandates, ratified by the TBMM General Assembly, are now officially in effect.(ILKHA)
