Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), has undertaken extensive parliamentary diplomacy efforts to halt what he describes as Israel's genocidal massacres in the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza.

His initiatives aim to support humanitarian efforts and mobilize the international community against the Zionist regime.

Since the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, Speaker Kurtulmuş has engaged with nearly 200 leaders, including heads of state, government officials, and parliamentary leaders. Through these meetings, he has consistently highlighted the severe impact of the conflict, which has resulted in significant civilian casualties, including a high proportion of women and children.

During his diplomatic missions abroad, Kurtulmuş emphasized the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, condemning Israel's actions as crimes against humanity and genocide. He recalled the global outrage over incidents such as the killing of babies in incubators, underscoring the need for the international community to learn from these atrocities and prevent further loss of innocent lives.

Kurtulmuş has been a vocal advocate for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the swift delivery of humanitarian aid. His peace diplomacy efforts include multilateral discussions aimed at unifying countries, especially within Islamic geographies, to address the crisis.

In addition to his international engagements, Kurtulmuş has held numerous meetings with visiting dignitaries in Türkiye, including heads of state, government officials, parliamentary leaders, ministers, and heads of international organizations. Through these discussions and phone calls, he has stressed the urgency of ending the violence in Gaza and achieving a sustainable peace.

Kurtulmuş has consistently advocated for the implementation of a two-state solution, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital within the 1967 borders. He highlighted that ending illegal settlements, halting Israeli occupation and annexation efforts, and protecting the sanctity of holy sites for Muslims, Christians, and Jews, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, are crucial steps towards peace.

Echoing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's message, "The world is bigger than five," Kurtulmuş has called for cooperation in building a new, fair, and effective international system based on peace and free from double standards.

Kurtulmuş's efforts reflect Türkiye's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and promoting a peaceful resolution to the conflict. (ILKHA)
