Turkish Defense Minister meets Ukrainian counterpart in Ankara

Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov, in the Turkish capital on Tuesday.
The nature of the discussions held during the one-on-one meeting between the two ministers, as well as the subsequent talks involving Turkish and Ukrainian delegations, remains undisclosed as neither party offered comment on the meetings.
Rustem Umerov assumed the position of Ukraine's 18th Minister of Defense in 2023, amid heightened tensions with Russia.
Türkiye maintains a policy of maintaining close relations with both Ukraine and Russia amidst the ongoing conflict. Notably, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Istanbul for talks in March, underscoring Ankara's commitment to engaging with all parties involved in the regional dynamics.
