Ankara slams Israeli ministers’ calls to annex West Bank

The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation on Thursday in response to recent statements by Israeli ministers and politicians advocating for the annexation of the occupied West Bank, calling the remarks “provocative” and “in clear violation of international law.”
In a press release, the ministry rejected the statements “in the strongest terms,” warning that such rhetoric exposes Israel’s ongoing settlement policies and its intent to perpetuate the illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.
“These irresponsible calls for annexation, especially during active ceasefire efforts, openly defy the international community’s longstanding pursuit of a just and lasting solution,” the ministry said.
Ankara criticized Israel’s systematic interventions in Palestinian territories and alleged attempts at forcibly displacing Palestinian populations, saying such practices continue to heighten instability in the region.
Reiterating its long-standing position, the ministry emphasized that “recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, are essential for ensuring lasting peace, mutual trust, and regional stability.”
Türkiye’s statement comes amid heightened tensions and growing international concern over unilateral actions by the Israeli government, which critics say could derail any prospects for a two-state solution. (ILKHA)
