Türkiye's paid employment grows 2.9% annually in November

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported a 2.9% annual increase in the number of paid employees in November.
Covering the industry, construction, and trade-services sectors, the total number of paid employees rose from 15,301,629 in November 2023 to 15,741,665 in November 2024.
The data revealed notable variations across sectors. While the industrial sector experienced a slight decline of 0.7% in paid employees, the construction sector showed robust growth with a 6.3% increase. Similarly, the trade-services sector saw a 4.3% rise compared to the previous year.
On a monthly basis, paid employment also demonstrated positive growth, increasing by 0.3% in November 2024 compared to October. Sector-specific trends were evident, with employment in the industrial sector remaining stable, while the construction sector recorded a 0.4% uptick and the trade-services sector achieved a 0.5% increase.
These figures reflect steady growth in Türkiye's labor market, driven primarily by gains in construction and trade-services employment, even as the industrial sector showed a slight decline. (ILKHA)
